Valheim 1.0 Has Arrived

Valheim 1.0 Has Arrived: The Deep North Opens and Ruin Gaming’s Private Server Is Ready

After more than five years in Early Access, Valheim has officially reached version 1.0. On September 9, 2026, Iron Gate Studio and Coffee Stain Publishing released the long-awaited full version of the Viking survival game, complete with its final major biome: the Deep North.

For the members of Ruin Gaming (and anyone following along on Ruinnation.com), this is more than just another update. Our private server has been updated and is open for org members. Whether you’re returning after a long break or diving in for the first time since the Ashlands, the tenth realm is colder, larger, and more dangerous than ever.

What Is Valheim 1.0?

Valheim launched into Early Access in February 2021 and quickly became one of the biggest indie success stories of the decade. Over the following years, Iron Gate steadily added major biomes (Mistlands, Ashlands) and quality-of-life systems. Version 1.0 marks the end of that Early Access chapter and the beginning of the game’s full release era.

Alongside the version number change, Valheim also launched on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 for the first time, with full cross-play across PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch 2.

The centerpiece of the update is the Deep North — a vast frozen region at the northern edge of the map. Iron Gate has described it as significantly larger and more content-dense than previous biomes. Expect perpetual snow, slippery ice, abandoned villages, new dungeons, and threats that have been left undisturbed for ages.

Major New Content in Valheim 1.0

Here is a clear overview of the biggest additions based on the official patch notes:

New Biome & World Content

  • The Deep North (final major biome)
  • New locations and dungeons (including the Winding Tunnels and Mörkhalla)
  • New music, events, and environmental mechanics (deep snow that must be cleared, slippery ice surfaces, stronger frostbite effects)

Combat & Equipment

  • 40+ new weapons (including a full Nord-tier weapon family)
  • New bombs and ammunition
  • 4 new armour sets
  • 2 new capes
  • 2 new trinkets
  • New tools (notably a snow shovel and the highly requested grappling hook)

Creatures & Bosses

  • 10+ new creatures (including tameable and rideable Moose, Seals, Gammeltrolls, Elakingar, Barka, and others)
  • A new final boss for the Deep North

Building & Crafting

  • 80+ new buildable pieces
  • 5 new crafting-related build pieces (including the Frost Foundry)
  • 30+ new crafting materials
  • 20+ new food items

Quality of Life & Systems

  • Upgradeable pockets (inventory expansion)
  • Full achievements system (50+ achievements)
  • New graphic setting for draw distance
  • Menu overhaul for the hammer and serving tray
  • Magica cloth system
  • Overhauled item descriptions
  • All hair and beard styles available from the start
  • Unity engine upgrade and various performance/stability improvements
  • Rebalanced enemy spawn rates in the Ashlands

Existing worlds remain compatible. New biome content generates properly in areas that have not yet been explored. Iron Gate still strongly recommends starting a fresh world if you want the cleanest and most complete 1.0 experience.

Ruin Gaming Private Server – How to Join

Our private server for Ruin Gaming org members has been updated to Valheim 1.0 and is ready for players.

Current Status: Online and accepting connections for verified org members.

How to log in:

  1. Make sure your Valheim client is fully updated to version 1.0 (Steam will usually handle this automatically when you launch the game).
  2. Join the official Ruin Gaming Discord (link available on Ruinnation.com or in the usual channels).
  3. Check the dedicated Valheim channel for the current server IP / join code, password, and any temporary maintenance notices.
  4. Launch Valheim → Join Game → enter the server details provided.
  5. If you are using mods, wait for confirmation that the most important ones have been updated. Many mods will be temporarily incompatible right after a major version jump.

Important notes for members:

  • The server supports the standard 1–10 player limit.
  • Cross-play is enabled on the official side, but our private server is currently focused on PC members unless otherwise announced.
  • We recommend backing up any important personal characters before first login, just as a precaution with any major patch.
  • New players and returning members are both welcome. If you need a quick orientation or a group to explore the Deep North with, post in Discord.

Server rules remain the same: respect other members, no griefing, and keep the community spirit strong. Leadership will post any schedule for group expeditions into the Deep North once more people are online.

What Should You Do First?

  • Update the game and join the server.
  • Decide whether your group wants to continue on the existing world or start a fresh 1.0 world together.
  • Gather frost resistance gear and prepare for the new cold mechanics.
  • Stock up on food, arrows, and building materials before pushing far north.
  • Keep an eye on Discord for organized runs, base-building projects, and boss attempts.

The Deep North is designed as the culmination of everything that came before. The journey will be longer and harsher, but that is exactly why we play Valheim together.

Final Words from Ruin

Valheim has always been about the shared saga — the longships, the failed expeditions, the ridiculous builds, and the hard-won victories. Version 1.0 does not end that story; it simply opens the final chapter of the original vision.

The private server is open. The snow is falling. The Deep North is waiting.

Grab your axe, check Discord for the server details, and come join the rest of Ruin Gaming in the tenth realm.

Skål, Vikings. See you in the frozen wastes.
