The community came together during the 2004 launch of World of Warcraft. The guild assumed the name RUIN during the Warhammer Online campaign, which culminated in the World First Inevitable City conquest. For over two decades, RUIN has stood for large-scale coordinated gameplay, loyalty, and pushing the boundaries of what guilds can achieve in MMOs.

Star Citizen Updates & Fleet ActivityWe have our first wave one build for the 4.10 ptu and we’ll be taking a brief look at some of the Siege of Orison location and talk about the event, instancing, as well as one of the new weapons we’ll see come in with this patch. Get ready to dive into an action-heavy adventure that has turned the once-idyllic city of Orison into a nightmare. Read on for all the info you need to survive the Nine Tail gang’s campaign of violence, including a mission rundown and tips from the designers themselves. Alpha 4.9 “Frontier Tensions” remains live with strong player concurrency and continued optimizations following its mid-July launch. This week has seen the launch of the community-voted Ship Showdown event, the Foundation Festival, and the start of a Free Fly period running from July 29 through August 10. PTU Wave 1 for the upcoming 4.10 update is now open, focusing on bug fixes and foundational improvements. Looking ahead, Alpha 4.10 will bring the highly anticipated return of Siege of Orison with instanced FPS gameplay designed for coordinated team assaults on Nine Tails-controlled platforms. Additional features include new mission content, fuel tank and consumption rebalancing, heavy armor and weapon options, and numerous quality-of-life enhancements. Cloud Imperium Games has also outlined ambitious five-year plans that include significant UK studio expansion, development of multiple Squadron 42 sequels, and continued scaling toward a full-featured MMORPG with enhanced player support infrastructure.
RUIN Fleet Update: Our operations maintain excellent momentum. We continue successfully integrating new recruits into Idris and Polaris crews. Tactical Strike Groups and carrier operations, including testing with the Gatac Tyilui, are performing strongly and align perfectly with RUIN’s doctrine of organized large-scale capital ship gameplay. We expect high participation during the upcoming Free Fly and Ship Showdown events—check the Discord for scheduled fleet activities. World of Warcraft & BlizzCon NewsWorld of Warcraft: Midnight continues to deliver strong engagement. The Curse of Ula’tek content update arrives on August 11 and will open the Coiled Isle, introducing venomous new foes, cursed waters, and long-buried secrets. Players can look forward to the Venomous Abyss raid launching August 18, the Altar of Fangs dungeon, new Delves, Season 2 challenges, housing updates, and much more. BlizzCon 2026 is scheduled for September 12–13 in Anaheim and will be livestreamed free for everyone. Digital BlizzCon bundles are now available for purchase through September 28, offering new mounts, transmog ensembles, housing decor, and cosmetics across multiple Blizzard titles. The Ultimate Collection provides rewards spanning World of Warcraft, Overwatch, Diablo IV, Diablo Immortal, and Hearthstone. Final Fantasy XIV UpdatesPatch 7.55 went live today, wrapping up several Dawntrail relic weapon questlines while adding fresh content such as Occult Crescent: North Horn, Forked Tower: Magic, the conclusion of the Phantom Weapon series, additional Hildibrand adventures, and more. The recent EU Fan Fest in Berlin delivered major reveals for the upcoming Evercold expansion (Patch 8.0), set for January 2027. This includes the new tank job Bastion, which wields twin greatshields called Skyltborgs, exciting new zones and Realmships, and a major crossover raid series with Final Fantasy VII titled Beyond the Lifestream. The Nintendo Switch 2 version of FFXIV launches on August 4. Dune: Awakening & SAND: Raiders of SophieRecent patches for Dune: Awakening have delivered performance improvements, new Landsraad missions, and various fixes. Sietch Hajar on the Wrath server remains our primary hub for raids, sieges, and coalition building. The console release with full single-player mode stays on track for September 22, 2026. Our small team continues testing SAND: Raiders of Sophie in Early Access. The game’s highly customizable walking bases, procedural desert gameplay, loot gathering, and player clashes offer a fresh sandbox experience well-suited to RUIN’s coordinated playstyle. Other Major MMORPG UpdatesGuild Wars 2 has launched its World Boss Rush event with bonus rewards active this week. The Black Lion Trading Company continues to rotate new cosmetic offerings, and the game maintains a very healthy population. Story progression in the Visions of Eternity expansion and regular events keep the game engaging for veterans and newcomers alike. The Elder Scrolls Online is deep into Season One, which features the return of the Thieves Guild with new questlines in Glenumbra, Sheogorath-themed story content, new trials, dynamic encounters, high-seas adventures, and expanded rewards through the Tamriel Tome system. Class updates and quality-of-life improvements continue to roll out. Black Desert Online revealed its newest class, the Agent—a revolver-wielding operative—at Heidel Ball 2026. The class launches globally this week. Additional major updates include Edania Part II with new endgame zones and bosses, a level cap increase to 75, and the HYPERBOOST progression system designed to help new and returning players catch up faster. Comprehensive Industry & Tech News (Mid-to-Late 2026)The broader gaming industry continues to face structural challenges including high development budgets, player retention difficulties, studio consolidations, and periodic layoffs. In this environment, titles emphasizing player agency, sandbox gameplay, and large-scale coordination continue to carve out resilient niches. GTA VI, scheduled for November 19, 2026, remains one of the most anticipated releases with strong potential for coordinated gameplay. 2026 Game of the Year Contenders & Member InterestGrand Theft Auto VI (November 19, 2026) stands as the overwhelming community favorite due to its massive potential for organized play. Other titles generating interest include Resident Evil Requiem, Crimson Desert, Forza Horizon 6, Pragmata, Saros, Fable, and Marvel’s Wolverine. Legacy Titles Quick HitsOur members remain active across a wide variety of titles. World of Warcraft: Midnight is seeing strong participation with new content on the horizon. Final Fantasy XIV players are progressing through Patch 7.55 while looking forward to Evercold. Guild Wars 2, The Elder Scrolls Online, Albion Online, Black Desert Online, FFXIV, OSRS, SWTOR, and Conan Exiles all maintain healthy communities with regular seasonal and event-driven content.
