11TH ANNUAL RUNNING OF THE GNOMES-10/10-SCARLET CRUSADE

11TH ANNUAL RUNNING OF THE GNOMES-10/10-SCARLET CRUSADE

Are you a gnome? Do you know a gnome? Would you like to BE a gnome? (And who wouldn’t?) Then rise UP to the challenge of The Great Gnomeregan Run on Saturday, October 10 from Gnomeregan to Booty Bay. Source: Blizzard

Where:The fun begins outside the gnome starting area and ends in Booty Bay
Who: Alliance-Only (Don’t worry, all players can create a level 1 gnome and join in the fun too.)

Whether you’re a level 1 gnome (highly encouraged), a level 87 Dark Iron dwarf, or a level 120 worgen, you’ll be able to join in this fun run beginning in the gnome starting area, winding through Dun Morogh, Ironforge, the Deeprun Tram, Stormwind, Elwynn Forest, Duskwood, and Stranglethorn Vale where the run culminates in Booty Bay.

Participants can begin their race by picking up the quest, “The Great Gnomeregan Run” from Mina Gleespanner in New Tinkertown which is located just outside of the gnome starting area. The event last all day so you can choose when it’s most convenient to set your best personal record.

It’s a big big BIG world out there, but don’t worry about getting lost, there will be course markers and spectators along the way to help keep you on track. You’ll even see a few familiar faces among the onlookers including some new mechagnome friends!

Stranglethorn Vale is a dangerous place for low-level characters so you may want to find some muscle to join you along the way for a little extra protection. If you’re a higher-level character, think about playing chaperone for a gnome.

Concerned about getting ambushed by enemy Horde? Fear not, level 1 gnomes (and any player under level 20) can’t be attacked by enemy players. Higher-level Alliance escorts who also don’t want to engage in world PvP can turn Warmode off in Stormwind.

Once you make it to the race’s end in Booty Bay, make sure to turn in your quest to Prince Erazmin to complete the run.

Whether short or tall, it will be a good time for all.

What is this? Is it just the in game micro-holiday?

Hosted by: Dravinna<The Citrine Eagle>

The Running of the Gnomes is an event where the whole of the Warcraft community gathers on one singular server, Scarlet Crusade, and travels from the Gnome starting zone to Booty Bay to help raise awareness and funds for Breast Cancer.

The yearly migration was so popular with players and the community that Blizzard honored the event with a Micro-Holiday called the Great Gnomeregan Race that occurs yearly on the same date worldwide. The micro holiday provides players with a race course and NPCs to cheer them on.

While the micro-holiday occurs on on all retail servers, the community and the gathering of players is still held only on Scarlet Crusade US.

This year we’re yet again raising money for to help fund The Cleveland Clinic’s research for The Tuohy Vaccine. The Vaccine is being developed to help prevent Triple Negative Breast cancer and the team is undergoing various clinical trials.

When:

  • Saturday, October 10th, 2020
  • 7pm ET/4 pm PT/11 pm GMT/8 am KST
  • 7pm is race time, so show up early for invites, etc.

Where
Right where you log in as a Gnome and the Gnomergan area proper. We’ll be there doing invites the afternoon of and doing announcements in the days prior about other invites!

How to participate:
Simply log in on the specified day on Scarlet Crusade, before the run start time and join us for the run. We’ll have the invites, and you just need to bring yourself!

Because the Gnome Run is very popular, I suggest showing up early aka not 10 minutes before the run if you can help it, or joining our discord a few days before days that we are pre-inviting people to guilds to snag an invite early.

There will be absolutely no Cross Realm invites for this. You must be on Scarlet Crusade or it’s connected realm Feathermoon. I’m unable to facilitate people who are off realm. Simply roll a new character on the specified server and join in the fun that way!

If you do not play World of Warcraft, or play in the EU/Asia regions, you can download and use a US trial account.

If your account is currently not active, you can still attend. Trial and Veteran accounts cannot join guilds, but you can run along with us, and we do have some ways to count you all. You can also join our Discord still!

A note about Racing Guilds:
We ask that even while it’s hectic, or there’s multiple guilds, we ask that you only join the guilds we’ve confirmed for a variety of reasons:

We use the guilds to give out directions during the run, we don’t want people to have unexpectedly negative experiences in a random guild, or be scammed with a false donation link, we do use them to have some idea of how many people are at the event.

Also they’re just our fun little social channels! <3 <3

You cannot pick your guilds. It’s just whichever one we are currently inviting to! We’re sorry!

Live Side Guild names:

  • Gnomes Race for a Cure
  • Gnomes Race Too
  • Gnome Three Racers
  • Gnomes Race Four Us All
  • Gnome Run Strikes Back
  • Gnome and the Furious Six
  • All Gnomes go to Seven
  • The Last Gnome Run
  • War for the Gnome Run
  • Gnome with the Pink Run
  • Gnomes to Eleven
  • More guilds will be announced on our social media and discord as needed!

Whispering those of us spamming chat with instructions to do so the exact word INVITE will auto trigger our addon (thanks to Ellypse for making it!) to get you a guild invite unless you have a trial account.

Why Gnomes?

Gnomes are one of the few races with pink hair, making it easy for everyone to coordinate. They also fit the idea of something “Small” together adding up to something big when together.

What about tabards?

Tabards were made BoP in Legion. You can buy them in Ironforge for less than 1g, or even easier, you can mail yourself an Heirloom tabard from your other characters.

After Party?

Yes! We always head to Orgrimmar afterwards to give out kisses, hugs and licks to…whoever is the current head of the capitol! …We’ve licked a lot of Horde leaders over the last 11 years to be honest.

Why Breast Cancer, isn’t there a ton of attention for this already?

Well, why not?

October is breast cancer awareness month. We understand we’re sugar coating something devastating for people with cute gnomes to open up a conversation, but for a good reason. Everyone’s been affected by cancer of some form. Plus, we really realize that breast cancer isn’t just a woman’s issue. It affects our moms, our sisters, but also our dads, our brothers, our friends, guildies, coworkers, and many other people in our lives. It’s affected people that we really love in our community.

We feel even if the pink hair and cute outfits or all these Gnomes remind just one single person to check themselves to get a mammogram or encourage that family member who hears to go in to the doctor who’s been putting it off we’ve done our job for the year. Especially in a community where oftentimes many of us feel we’re too young or any number of other things to allow ourselves to put it off.

Plus it’s really hard to miss thousands of Gnomes doing anything, let alone thousands of Gnomes with the same colored hair stampeding through half a continent. Even out of game it gets people talking for a day or two.

I want to help with the Run!

Tell your friends! Reshare our information on various social media platforms. Turn your guild’s tabards pink and talk about the vaccine! Ask your friends to come with you!

If you have another idea you can tweet at me @Dravvie/ Discord/Reply here or send me a message elsewhere!

Can’t wait to see you guys soon! <3
