World pvp alive and well on Kil’Jaeden
A big thanks to the multi guild Horde raid that attempted a For the Horde early in the week. Ruin continues to promote world pvp on the Kil’Jaeden realm. Having occupied Horde cities since patch 5.2 Ruin has graciously allowed Horde pvp guilds to dust themselves off and bring a healthy balance to world pvp on Kil’Jaeden.
Ruin has made every effort to encourage Horde guilds to make attempts at faction leaders and world pvp. Their efforts have met with mixed results. Regardless we have greatly enjoyed the revival of the world pvp that has made the Kil’Jaeden server famous.]]>

Currently, we expect to release World of Warcraft Patch 5.3: Escalation next week on Tuesday, May 21!
Now that the patch is on the horizon, we’ve narrowed down some of the key things you might want to know before the big day. If you want to find out more about everything that’s coming, you can check out the latest Public Test Realm patch notes, or even download and play on the PTR itself.
Hold on to some of those currencies you’ve been earning over the course of patch 5.2. The gear-upgrading Void Binders are returning in patch 5.3, but it will be cheaper to upgrade items using Valor and Justice Points. Upgradeable PvP items from Season 12 will be eligible for upgrade once again at their original costs. In addition, Heirloom items will be cheaper to upgrade, whether you’re using Justice Points, Honor Points, or Darkmoon Faire tickets. We’re also speeding up the leveling process from 85 to 90. Here are the details:
The experience required to level from 85 to 90 will be reduced by 33%. Time to dust off those alts!
PvP Gear in Patch 5.3
There are more really big changes coming to the way that PVP gear works coming in patch 5.3. As you know if you read our previous blog on the subject, we approached patch 5.2 with the goal in mind of narrowing the PvP gear gap, as well as working to make PvP more accessible to all players, to broaden interest and provide a robust pool of competitors that enriches the PvP experience for everyone.
The Void Binders are coming back!
Items upgraded with Valor will now cost 250 Valor Points to upgrade per 4 Item Levels, for a total of 500 Valor for 8 Item Levels per item. This applies retroactively to all items that can be upgraded using Valor.
Items upgraded with Justice will now cost 750 Justice Points to upgrade for 8 Item Levels. They can only be upgraded once, for a total of 750 Justice and 8 Item Levels per item. This applies retroactively to all items that can be upgraded using Justice.
Malevolent Gladiator’s Conquest (Season 12) items that have upgrades available will still be upgradable at their original Conquest Point costs (750 Conquest Points per 4 Item Levels, with two upgrades possible).
Dreadful Gladiator’s Honor (Season 12) items that have upgrades available will still be upgradable at their original costs (one upgrade at a cost of 750 1500 Honor Points for 8 Item Levels).
No other PvP items will be able to be upgraded.
The amount of Justice, Honor, and Darkmoon Faire tickets needed to upgrade Heirloom items will be reduced by 60%.
Item Level Requirements
Are you ready to face the Raid Finder, Heroic dungeons, and new Heroic Scenarios? Make sure that you’re geared up to dive right in:
Heroic Scenarios require an average Item Level of 480; unlike normal Scenarios, you’ll need a pre-made party to enter.
An average Item Level of 435 is required for Heroic dungeons.
An average Item Level of 460 is required for the Raid Finder version of Mogu’shan Vaults.
An average item level of 470 is required for Raid Finder versions of Heart of Fear and Terrace of Endless Spring.
An average Item Level of 480 is required for the Raid Finder version of Throne of Thunder.
Lesser Charms of Good Fortune
We’re adding more ways to acquire Lesser Charms of Good Fortune in patch 5.3. In addition to the changes that took effect in patch 5.2, which reduced the number of Lesser Charms of Good Fortune required to purchase three Mogu Runes of Fate from 90 to 50 and allowed players to earn Lesser Charms from Pet Battles, these new sources of Lesser Charms will be available in patch 5.3:
Outdoor world creatures level 90 and above now have a chance to drop Lesser Charms of Good Fortune.
Rare spawns in Pandaria (except Zandalari Warscouts and Zandalari Warbringers) and bosses encountered as part of the Battlefield: Barrens quest event in Kalimdor will drop Lesser Charms of Good Fortune.
PvP Season Update
PvP Season 13 is still in full swing. We discussed many of the changes coming to PvP gear in our PvP Gear in 5.2 and Preparing for PvP in Patch 5.3 blogs, and the changes below are explained in greater detail there. As a reminder, the 7,250 Conquest Point requirement to purchase non-elite Conquest Point weapons is being removed with patch 5.3.
A number of significant changes are coming to PvP and PvP gear:
All characters now have a base Resilience of 65%.
Battle Fatigue now reduces the effectiveness of healing and absorb spells and abilities by 45% (was 30%).
PvP Power bonus to healing is now based on class and specialization.
Healing specializations receive a 100% bonus to healing from PvP Power.
Damage specializations for Druids, Monks, Paladins, Priests, and Shaman receive a 70% bonus to healing from PvP Power.
All other specializations and classes (including tanking) receive a 40% bonus to healing from PvP Power.
It’s easy to make sure that you’re ready to play when the realms become available on patch day. If you haven’t played in a while, one of the simplest things you can do is open the World of Warcraft launcher and allow the updater to download the latest available game files. If you use user interface add-ons, make sure you have the latest versions and that they’re updated and ready to go for the new patch. This is also a good time to update your video card’s drivers.
If you experience any patching issues, there’s a technical support forum thread all about patching that could help. You can also follow @BlizzardCS on Twitter for the latest support-related news.

Patch 5.3 Scenario Preview
by Nethaera May 2, 2013 9:00 AM PDT 205
Patch 5.3 introduces four new Scenarios and Heroic modes for six Scenarios including two previously released encounters. Whether you’re Horde or Alliance, you’ll be able to get in on the action with the use of the Dungeon Finder or by queuing (in the case of Heroics) with two of your friends.
Blood in the Snow
There is a clear and present danger to the dwarven capital that Varian Wrynn isn’t going to let slide due to dwarven infighting. It’s ultimately Moira and the Dark Irons—along with the aid of some Alliance heroes—who step up to the plate to defend their new home, teaching the Wildhammer and Bronzebeard clans a lesson in loyalty and the value of fighting together for a common cause. You’ll be asked to step forth to aid Moira in this story-driven Scenario.
This Scenario is a part of the Battlefield Barrens storyline.
Dark Heart of Pandaria
Something’s afoot in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms. Garrosh has sent Goblin engineers to excavate a mysterious artifact. However, their efforts seem to have stirred up more than the crew can handle on their own. Your mission (should you choose to accept it) is to go into the Vale and do a little much needed clean-up. Things aren’t quite right in the Vale and it seems Garrosh is looking for more leverage in the battle with the Alliance.
This Scenario is a part of the Battlefield Barrens storyline.
Secrets of Ragefire
Concerned with the recent disappearance of his scouts, Vol’jin has recruited the Bilgewater Cartel’s elite Gob Squad unit to investigate. Having tracked the culprit to an abandoned section of Ragefire, you’ll assist the Gob Squad in their search and help put a stop to whoever is behind these abductions. Doing what Goblins do best, you can bet there will be plenty of explosive action. You know it’s serious business when they even call a pool pony into play!
Battle on the High Seas
The war between the Horde and Alliance isn’t confined to land. You’ll need to take to the High Seas in this Scenario and fend off enemy forces to prove your faction’s naval might isn’t to be trifled with. Once you’ve made sure the ship is safe, you’ll need to swing into action (watch out for rope burns) and make sure the enemy doesn’t have a chance to send another boarding party or take another shot. There’s more at stake than pride.
New Heroic Mode
A Heroic difficulty option has been added for Scenarios, allowing those who have the right stuff to ramp up the challenge. This mode is available for the four new Scenarios—Blood in the Snow, Dark Heart of Pandaria, Secrets of Ragefire, and Battle on the High Seas—and two previously released Scenarios—Crypt of Forgotten Kings and A Brewing Storm. To queue for this new mode, you’ll need an item level of 480 (ilvl 480) and some well-seasoned (but not too salty) friends to join you.
Taking on Heroic Scenarios will award Valor Points and a chance to obtain Raid Finder-quality items. You’ll also be able to complete a bonus objective for additional Valor. It’s important to note that you’ll only be able to earn bonus Valor within Normal or Heroic, but not within both on the same day. Random Heroic Scenarios will reward a Heroic Cache of Treasure and 120 Valor Points for successful completion of the instance.]]>
World of Warcraft will be implementing an additional battleground in patch 5.3 Deepwind Gorge. There is still no word regarding additional improvements and updates to World PvP objectives or expansion of the Krasarang dailies area.
World PvP remains our focus as an organization. Ruin continues to encourage structured rated battlegrounds and arenas despite the fact that Kil’Jaeden is no longer a center for “high end” ranked play. Ruin encourages Horde guilds on Kil’Jaeden to become more active in world pvp once again. Ruin originally joined the Kil’Jaeden server due to high server population and strong reputation for strong Horde pvp guilds.
I would like to personally recognize the efforts of Horde guilds over the last several weeks to bring back world pvp.
Horde pvp guilds have been making a greater effort to show up and provide Alliance players some of the world pvp experience that the Kil’Jaeden server is known for.
Ruin Blizzcon 2013
Once again Ruin Gaming will have a presence at Blizzcon we expect to host another guild dinner and will discuss a Disneyland and California Adventure event.
Ticket Buying Tips and Information
BlizzCon 2013 will take place November 8 and 9 at the Anaheim Convention Center, and tickets cost $175 USD each. Tickets to the BlizzCon Benefit Dinner cost $500 USD each and include BlizzCon admission. Even if you can’t join us at BlizzCon in person, in-depth coverage will be available at home through the BlizzCon Virtual Ticket; further details will be announced at a later date.
Ruin has always prided itself on picking out the most obnoxious “big fish in a small pond” guilds to provide them with a healthy serving of humble pie. At Ruin Gaming we have always enjoyed toying with overly loud and self important organizations that proclaim themselves the pinnacle of all things pvp. Throughout our many years of competing across different games and regions we have found that World of Warcraft has a conspicuous abundance of these guilds.
The Kil’Jaeden server is certainly no exception to this rule.
Certain, unnamed Horde pvp guilds regularly resort to demanding small group pvp matches in order to “prove” their skill after enduring a humiliating defeat. Perpetuating the idea that Ruin only wins due to our superior numbers, coordination, communication, infrastructure suave uniforms and James Bond style gadgets and not because of our individual or group skill. Horde guilds often attempt to dismiss larger scale world pvp as merely a numbers game. On the Kil’Jaeden server Horde outnumber Alliance by a two to one margin, clearly they should be winning.
A former Horde convert and now veteran Ruin member: Psyops has taken it upon himself to prove that these unnamed Horde guilds are equally incompetent in small scale tactical ranked play. To this end he has created a team of Ruin members and friends of the organization on and off of Kil’Jaeden. Horde guilds immediately resorted to ‘queue dodging’ in order to avoid a humiliating run in with #TeamRuinous which would force them to come face to face with the simple reality that even the most “elite”Kil’Jaeden teams are at best mediocre on more competitive pvp focused servers.
The reality is Kil’Jaeden is only on the “pvp map” due to world pvp. There are literally no legitimate high ranked arena and RBG teams whatsoever. Ruin established a branch on Kel’Thuzad for this very reason. We would like to continue to remind everyone playing on Kil’Jaeden to keep the pvp fun and entertaining.
Supporting the development of Camelot Unchained will provide many benefits to the guild and individual members. The specifics of the different Kickstarter support tiers are detailed below.

Guild Pledge Goals
Beyond the benefits of supporting the development of games that suit our play style Kickstarter investment has in game benefits for individual players and the guild as a whole. It is important for Ruin to reserve its guild name as well as potential to achieve more ambitious goals of land ownership for the purpose of constructing a Guild Hall and city.
GUILD OF THE VEIL Reserving Guild Name: Requires $600
Our first guild-oriented tier includes all the WARRIOR rewards for you and 9 guild members RESERVED NAMING RIGHTS for our guild.
Our own Guild Island: Requires $5,000
This is obviously a significant investment. However, as a community our member base is large enough to support this ambitious goal so long as we have total guild participation. The design of the Island will require some additional discussion within the guild.
We will hold an “Island Fortress” investment meeting to discuss the creation and design of our Island fortress in Minecraft.
NO MAN IS AN ISLAND BUT I OWN ONE. PHYSICAL REWARDS. Best of all, this island will be reachable only by flier and you will work with our team to customize your island. You and your guests will have free and unlimited access to and from your island, and you can even allow them to set up houses there. The island will also have its own mines and resources that you can harvest. In addition, pledge owner also receives 8 DIGITAL COPIES OF THE GAME (REDEEMABLE AT THE HERO LEVEL ONLY). This package will not be available after release. Estimated delivery of Internal Testing Access: January 2014.

The Elder Scrolls Online Just Might Be Awesome
Yong provides The Elder Scrolls Online analysis. New combat and user interface interface information has been made available by Bethesda/Zenimax. Members of the press have been allowed to play an early build of the game. Many of the features players have become accustomed to from Skyrim and other Elder Scrolls games are present such as power attacks and skill freedom for character development. The artistic design of The Elder Scrolls Online remains consistent with previous titles in the franchise.
There are significant differences between previous Elder Scrolls games. The ability to free loot everything on players and objects has been removed, merchants will not have limited gold and resources. The weight and encumbrance system has also been removed for The Elder Scrolls Online. Monsters will have set levels based on areas similar to World of Warcraft.Professions
Cooking, crafting, enchanting all make their return in TSO. The cooking system retains many similarities to Skyrim, mixing ingredients to create food items that provide different benefits and buffs.
Freedom to tailor your class and abilities similar to other Elder Scrolls Games. This means choice of weapons and armor remains skill rather than class restricted.
Cause and Effect System
Quest givers will give significant dialogue options that will influence the outcome and nature of the quests offered in a significant improvement over the simple “light side” or “dark side” points offered in Star Wars: The Old Republic.
Addons are a critical component of improving your gaming experience in World of Warcraft. Ruin Gaming has compiled a bare list of essential modifications for all members to take advantage of.

Addons for new players:
This addon is able to make suggestions of what spell you may want to cast next by flashing on top of the spell buttons.
Standard Issue PvP Addons
These addons are considered “essential” for any Ruin member interested in improving their performance. Expect a learning period of approximately one week to become familiarized with this interface package. Immediate improvements in your input speed (clicks for second) translate into improved damage, survivability and reaction time for movement.
Easily the single most essential World PvP and mass PvP tool for any Ruin member. Making it a trivial task to pick out healers for elimination in larger group engagements.
Healers are clearly listed with red crosses over their name plates:
Finding enemy healers in the chaos of mass pvp can be a daunting task. Keeping track of your healers is also not easy, and detecting when they are attacked even worse. Do you wish there was a simple solution for this issue?
Bartender4 is a full ActionBar replacement mod. It provides you with all the features needed to fully customization most aspects of your action and related bars.
The Ruin prefered Unitframes mod. SUF focuses on a simple configuration while maintaining the flexibility that most users will care about, preventing unnecessary bloating of the addon that sacrifices performance. While you aren’t going to be able to set the health bar to be exactly 3.14 pixels outside of the unit frames, you can change options you actually care about such as bar height, ordering, frame height and so on.
Juked has ~65 cooldowns being tracked on the main bar and an optional priority bar where higher priority spells are displayed(interrupts by default).
Timers and damage over time indicators.
Quartz is a modular approach to a casting bar addon. An overview of (hopefully most of) the modules:
Ruin recommends purchasing the following hardware to improve the quality of your gameplay experience. These items are used currently by much of the officer corpse of Ruin and come highly recommended as durable and providing a measurable performance increase for users.
This addon provides a Bartender user interface customized for the Razernaga. The Naga: 17 MMO-optimized buttons allow players to effortlessly access more spells, abilities, and macros with a total of 17 mouse buttons, including Razer’s revolutionary 12-button thumb grid. The new Razer Naga features 2 mouse buttons behind the scroll wheel to deliver better ergonomic control as you game.
